The TETFund Centre of Excellence in Food Security (TCoEFS), University of Jos, in collaboration with EcoFarms & Agro Services Limited, has launched a two-week professional short course on Post-Harvest Management of Fresh Produce.
Scheduled to run from 16th February to 1st March 2026 at the Naraguta Campus of the University of Jos, the course is designed to provide practical, market-oriented training aimed at reducing post-harvest losses, improving produce handling systems, and strengthening food safety standards.
The programme targets students, farmers, marketers, vendors, agribusiness stakeholders, and professionals seeking to improve efficiency and profitability across agricultural value chains.
The course focuses on:
Modern handling, storage, and transportation techniques
Quality control and food safety standards
Shelf-life extension strategies
Market competitiveness and value enhancement
Practical field demonstrations and inter-learning visits
The initiative aligns with TCoEFS’s broader mandate to promote sustainable food systems through innovation-driven training, enterprise integration, and revenue-oriented agricultural models.
The training also builds on the Centre’s recent enterprise successes, including broiler production and greenhouse activation, reinforcing the integration of research, practical learning, and commercialization within its operational framework.
Participants will receive structured practical exposure and certification from the TETFund Centre of Excellence in Food Security, University of Jos.
